Mandy Pickles - Soprano Cornet
Mandy started playing the cornet aged 11 with Barnoldswick Brass Band. She stayed with them until she went to Nelson & Colne college to study A-Level music and moved on to Skipton Brass on Repiano which was her first taste of Championship section banding. After a few years with Skipton she moved to play Solo Cornet for Stacksteads Brass Band for a number of years before moving to Longridge Brass Band where she also conducted their Junior Band. After leaving Longridge she joined Blackburn & Darwen band where she played for 16+ years until recently becoming a permanent member of Darwen Brass. Mandy is the Chairperson of Darwen Brass and played a pivital role in the formation of the band and is very proud of the success the band has seen since its formation. Mandy says "It is wonderful being part of a band that is made up from people of all ages and all walks of life who work so well together".
Mandy has achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree and has recently gained employment from Lancashire Music Service.
